Letter from Thai Nguyen: THE DHARMA SPRING ( Thư Thái Nguyên : Xuân chánh pháp)

“Spring, spring, spring has come…” the lyrics of one legendary song for the spring is running through my mind on the way to work which makes me feel warm and excited. The memory has just flashed back as if it was just yesterday.
One year ago, my husband and I were blessed to meet Guru in Thai Nguyen city. On that occasion, Guru promised there would be a Dharma gathering with lectures in Thai Nguyen some day in the future. I believed that day would come soon as everything that was said by Guru all came true. That time, we were honored to have Guru visit our home. Even though it was not completed and temporarily in a mess, Guru was still glad for us to have a stable “roof” for our own.

Spring, spring, spring has come…

It was an amazing surprise when I got to know that Guru was going to give us a Dharma teaching at Koi café in Thai Nguyen city. I admire Guru’s considerate and careful plan though this is the second time Guru has visited this city. The café is located in an ideal position where it is both spacious, airy, and equipped with a convenient parking area. The conference room on the 2nd floor is surrounded by glass which allows us to enjoy the magnificent landscape outside, with lots of colorful decorative lights. The weather in the north has been very cold recently, it was surprising that the weather became warm and comfortable on the day Guru arrived.

We (Mat Hoang Nhu – Mat Dinh Kien) were honored to have Guru visit our home

While I was dwelling on my train of thought, Guru entered the room. We all stood up to greet Guru. Guru let us know the reason of his journey was actually rooted in a promise with an old friend which was recorded in one poem written on Saturday, 14 November 2020; and Guru took it as a chance to give us a lecture simultaneously:

Mat Dinh Chau presented the agenda

Guru gave Dharma teachings at Koi café

The wind blowing from the south
Long for the one in the north
Where there is a precious friend
After years of being apart
Is it rooted in our last lives?
That You become my trusted friend?
A few sincere words
Cover my inmost feelings
As impermanence is hard to predict
It is better to speak from the heart
Until soon, that we meet again
On one of last winter days in Hanoi
Guru gave us a Dharma teaching named “The worldly spring, and the Dharma spring”. Through Guru’s teaching, I understand that no matter how excited we may expect the worldly spring to come, it keeps coming and going due to the law of nature. The spring dispels the winter’s coldness and brings everything back to life.

However, it can never stay with us forever, it will soon be replaced by the winter again. Similarly, when human beings are surrounded by the coldness of sufferings, they look for the temporary warmth from the “jackets” which are money, fame, credit, etc.

Guru had a conversation with Mat Hue Lien’s father

They have no idea those jackets will soon leave them some day. That is the function of impermanence. The samsara’s world is a vicious circle that keeps rotating endlessly. Then, what is the solution to end samsara’s sufferings and live in the spring’s happiness? Practicing right Dharma is the only way for us to live happily in this life and attain eternal happiness in our next lives, to liberate us from the circle of samsara.

Looking back to what I have experienced from practicing Pure Mind Yoga, I recognized how much I was blessed. Last time when Guru visited our house in Thai Nguyen, the house was under unfinished construction. This time, it was fully finished so we could greet Guru in a proper space. Guru gladly said that the house was beautifully built. Basically, we have accomplished our big goals (building a house, buying a car, raising our kids). We are now satisfied with this simple and stable life, we just need to maintain our routine life and leisurely practice Pure Mind Yoga. Not only me, but also other Dharma brothers from Thai Nguyen received blessings since we started practicing Dharma as well. For instance, Mat Thai Xuyen, Mat Cao Thai found good jobs with high salaries; Mat Giac Phuong settled down her life in the city and bought a new car, etc.

Guru handed out the certificate of practicing Uninterrupted Offering

It is two weeks from now to Tet holiday, the official time for the spring. But for me, the spring has come a long time ago, since the day I met Guru and was taught by him and his teachings. I have been living in the Dharma spring since then.

Dear holy Guru!
I would like to express my gratitude that you have brought the Dharma spring to us, saved us from the darkness and coldness of worldly sufferings, and showed us the path to liberation.
